The world premiere of He Named Me Malala has taken place at the Telluride Film Festival, in Colorado, USA.

The hugely anticipated documentary by Davis Guggenheim, and produced by Image Nation, tells the story of Malala Yousafzai who was shot by the Taliban after speaking out about educational right for girls in her homeland of Pakistan.

Malala went on to become the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 at the age of just 17.

She continues to campaign for the rights of women and girls across the world.

The Telluride festival is renowned within the industry and is packed with film industry insiders, cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers and critics who last night got to enjoy the first screening of the feature-doc.

This is the 42nd running of the Telluride Festival – with all features kept secret until the moment the screenings start – such was the buzz around He Named Me Malala, however, news of the screening starting leaking 24 hours prior to the showing.
