Mohammed Al Otaiba

Mohammed Al Otaiba Head, Image Nation Abu Dhabi

Mohammed Al-Otaiba is the Head of Image Nation Abu Dhabi. He joined Image Nation in the summer of 2011 where he oversees development of talent and film in the UAE, contributing to the development of a foundation for the motion picture industry in the United Arab Emirates.

 

Prior to joining Image Nation, Mohammed worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 10 years, where he served as a diplomat at the Mission of the UAE to the United Nations in New York, at the embassy in Beijing – covering China, Vietnam and Mongolia, and at the embassy in London – covering the UK and Iceland.

 

Mohammed received a Bronze medal from the New York Festivals in 2005 for his documentary ‘Afghan Days.’ Also, in the same year, his film was screened at SEE Film Festival in Brighton (UK) and aired on Abu Dhabi Television. In 2009, Mohammed was one of six winners, for the Aflam Qaseera Contest launched by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission for his short film ‘The Orphanage’. ‘The Orphanage’ was screened in Mexico at the Guanajuato Film Festival 2012 and at Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2012. Recently he shot his latest short film, ‘Happy Birthday Younis’ starring Nabil Sawalha.

 

He won the British Council’s YCE 2012 award for the UAE in the media sector.
